of course some of them bought 360 or wii or nothing at all but that wont stop them from having more consoles or a new crowd will arise or migrate from 360 or wii to ps3!!!
ps2 sold mostly at around 199USD and sold well around 299USD and ps3 just arrived to 299UDS so expect sales to be similar to ps2 and ps3 would most likely have a longer life than ps2 depending on when ps3 will finish off the 360.

first sony never said how much ps3 cost since end of 2007 when they announced the $400 ps3, and at that time they said they managed to get close to $400, which means around between 400-450, so assuming that it is relatively impossible that the cost will stay the same until now!! in fact there was rumors that last year ps3 costs close to $300 and it is safely to assume by now ps3 is costing less than $300!

we all know that in USA and UK is where 360 is most selling, so its no surprise to see a small spike in sales after a price cut.
this is just a spike that will last 1-3 weeks.
